Job Description:

The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state.

Responsibilities

  • The Behavior Analyst provides senior level behavior analysis services in the form of consultation and technical assistance to individuals with cognitive, developmental, physical and health related needs, working under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
  • Provides supervision to behavioral health staff in the area of applied behavior analysis.
  • Performs observations and functional assessments necessary for behavior analysis and service delivery, including restraint reduction, skill acquisition plans, and data analysis of the effects of psychotropic medication.
  • Provides training to staff concerning positive and effective approaches to preventing/addressing challenging behaviors.
  • Assists in evaluating the consistent implementation of behavior support plans through personal observation, staff interviews, and review of documentation.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and departmental and agency policy and develops systems and procedures to meet standards and requirements.
  • Serves on work groups and committees and may chair the Behavior Support Plan Peer Review Committee.
  • Work schedule varies upon request or as needed.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)

  • Attend work on a regular basis; may involve specific shift schedules, rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy. May serve in an on-call status on a rotating schedule as required.
  • Assess behavior needs, determine function of the challenging behavior, and develop behavior plans for people with challenging behaviors.
  • Participate in mandatory training per HHS policies, HIPAA policies, state and federal rules and regulations, and ICF-IID regulations, and the requirements in the SSLC’s Department of Justice Settlement Agreement.
  • Provide behavior analysis services as consultation and technical assistance for residents; conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments; develop oral and written reports; develop or assist in behavior support plans.
  • Train, provide clinical consultation, and coordinate with behavioral health staff and interdisciplinary teams to support program implementation.
  • Evaluate the development and implementation of behavior support plans through observation, interviews, and documentation review; analyze trends, use of restraints or emergency procedures, and treatment results.
