Responsibilities- Maintain equipment on a regularly scheduled basis; responsible for all repairs and orders.
- Schedule inspections; maintain current knowledge of updates on vehicles.
- Picks up parts as necessary; orders oil and fuel.
- Write specifications for equipment purchases; meet with vendors.
- Supervise shop operations; instruct, train and assist mechanics; assign work, ensure standards and priorities are met and check completed work.
- Hold accountability for all equipment used and uniforms issued.
- Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma/GED; working knowledge of all precinct equipment, vehicle maintenance and repairs, or technical certification in different fields of mechanical training, or 7 years documented experience as a mechanic.
- 4 years of job‑related experience as a mechanic.
- Strong automotive repair and evaluation skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills and ability to complete assigned projects accurately within specified timeframe.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
Starting salary range: $22.96–$28.70 hourly based on qualifications.
