Assistant Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health
Job Type: Full-time Days
Position SummaryDirects the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Oversees nursing and hospital operations during assigned shifts, manages staffing and scheduling, provides direct nursing care, and supports department managers with education, discipline, and compliance.
Essential Functions- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities, hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets; ensures compliance with allocated funding; coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrates evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
- Acts as a liaison between internal co‑workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
- Manages the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work.
- Ensures quality standards, hires, terminates, trains, develops, and administers corrective action for staff.

Work Environment And Travel RequirementsWell‑lit, ventilated, climate‑controlled office environment. Hospital setting with exposure to blood borne pathogens, contagious illnesses, toxic chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Noise level typical for office/hospital. Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
Education & Certifications- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred; applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education.
- Certifications:
BLS. - Licenses: (list as applicable).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
