Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking nursery associate to join our production team at Cache Valley Native Plants, Utah’s premier native plant nursery. This hands-on role focuses primarily on native plant production, greenhouse management, and nursery operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands and wants to deepen their knowledge of growing and working with Utah native plants.

Experience is preferred but we’re willing to train the right person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily plant care: water, weed, prune, fertilize, monitor for pests and diseases, and maintain healthy stock of native perennials, shrubs, grasses, trees, and ground covers.
  • Assist with all stages of production and propagation: seed sowing, transplanting, potting, dividing, and organizing nursery inventory.
  • Assist in developing new protocols for germinating native plants using a variety of methods; some experimental.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production and retail environment (tidy beds and benches, clean tools/equipment, remove debris, keep pathways clear).
  • Support order fulfillment when needed: pull and stage plants for customer pickups, appointments, and deliveries.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service when needed. Answer basic questions about Utah native plants and help with plant selection.
  • Learn and share practical knowledge about native plant benefits, local ecology, and sustainable growing practices.
Qualifications
  • Genuine interest in horticulture, ecology, landscaping, botany, or native plants.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons of northern Utah.
  • Strong attention to detail and physical stamina (able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly).
  • Reliable, team-oriented, and able to work independently once trained.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Saturday and Sunday availability on a rotating schedule.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (for occasional local tasks).
Schedule

Full time preferred through August, September, and early October. Part-time or full-time November-March depending on availability. Possibility of continuing full-time starting spring of 2027.

Pay Rate

~$15/hr. based on experience

If you love growing and working with plants and want to be part of a small team making a difference in Utah, we’d love to hear from you!
