We are seeking a detail-oriented Revenue & Project Accountant to support accurate financial tracking and revenue recognition across a growing portfolio of projects. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a growing company, offering a long-term commitment plan.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in project-based accounting
, particularly within construction, engineering, or similar industries where job costing is critical
.
- Set up and maintain project budgets, cost codes, and financial tracking structures
- Review and process project-related invoices, expenses, and accruals
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and revenues against approved budgets
- Track work-in-process (WIP) and overall project profitability
- Prepare and analyze project financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606
- Prepare and review revenue and cost of goods sold journal entries
- Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and WIP accounts
- Reconcile revenue-related balance sheet accounts
- Partner with Sales to understand contract terms and revenue implications
- Collaborate with Billing to ensure invoicing aligns with contractual requirements
- Work closely with Project Managers to proactively identify cost overruns and financial risks
- Drive process improvements to enhance revenue and project accounting efficiency
- Calculate quarterly sales commissions in accordance with plan terms
- Strong experience in project accounting and revenue recognition (ASC 606 required)
- Background in construction, engineering, or project-based environments highly preferred
- Hands-on experience with job costing and project financial tracking
- A degree in accounting is highly preferred
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Project Managers, Sales, and Accounting
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and reconciliation skills
- Proactive, forward-thinking approach to identifying financial risks and improvements
