RCC seeks applicants for our Accountant & Grant Specialist position. This is a full‑time, classified staff position, with an excellent benefits package. The anticipated salary range will be $61,000 – $71,000, commensurate with experience. This position is located at the Glenns campus.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Business Manager, the Accountant & Grant Specialist provides financial accounting and grant support services to management to meet the needs of the college. Working closely with the Business Manager and Grant Coordinator, this position focuses heavily on grant budgeting, compliance, reporting, drawdowns and variance analysis functions. The incumbent performs grant‑related pre‑, post‑ and closeout functions, including periodic invoicing, labor distribution changes and expenditure reconciliations.

This role also provides accurate and timely financial reports on grants for internal management purposes.

The Accountant & Grant Specialist performs grant asset management, assisting in the development and management of grant‑related budgets, and general ledger accounting to include the development of maintenance and operation (M&O) budgets as related to grant expenditures.

This role assists in audit preparation and readiness, including preparing audit schedules for federal awards, grant documentation for financial audits and grant compliance audit assistance.

The incumbent also reconciles grant funds in accordance with established guidelines, attends post‑grant meetings, and maintains and updates grant administration handbooks and guides. This role performs post‑grant fiscal management activities, including grant closeouts, preparation of final financial reports, deactivation of accounting codes, records archiving and cash, revenue and expense reconciliation.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Required Qualifications
  • Considerable work experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Excellent working knowledge of GAAP and Practices and knowledge of cash management principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze, balance and reconcile financial data, calculate number sequences, correct entries and post accounting records.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including demonstrated ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.
Additional Considerations
  • Proficiency in People Soft Applications.
