Tax Staff - Public

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Tax Staff team member to join a public accounting team in Richmond, Virginia. This position focuses on preparing and reviewing tax filings for individuals and businesses while supporting accurate, timely compliance work. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a client-service environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individual and corporate clients with a high degree of accuracy.

- Analyze financial records and supporting documents to ensure complete and compliant tax filings.

- Assist with tax planning activities by identifying relevant issues, opportunities, and filing considerations for clients.

- Review work papers, calculations, and return details to resolve discrepancies before submission.

- Communicate with clients and internal team members to gather missing information and clarify tax-related questions.

- Support the use of CCH Pro System and related tax preparation software to organize data and complete return processing. Requirements - Experience preparing individual income tax returns in a public accounting or similar work environment.

- Experience preparing corporate tax returns and working with related supporting schedules.

- Working knowledge of tax preparation processes, documentation standards, and filing requirements.

- Proficiency with CCH Pro System, CCH Pro System fx, or comparable tax software.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments within established deadlines.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
