Senior Accountant
Full‑time classified staff position with an excellent benefits package. Salary range: $74,000–$84,000, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities- Investigate budget variances and manage vendor payments.
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger.
- Reconcile general funds and cash balances; monitor budgetary expenditures and encumbrances; ensure accuracy of financial reports.
- Provide guidance to other accounting personnel; act as go‑to person for day‑to‑day problem solving with the Business Office Manager.
- Serve as main resource for RCC’s Workforce Enterprise System (WES).
- Assist authentication and compliance of accounting operations and financial transactions.
- Act as liaison with VCCS departments and serve as Business Office main point of contact for the Warsaw campus; supervise one position.
- Manage bad debt process; prepare deposits; process student payments.
- Perform other duties as assigned and assist in emergency declarations.
- Excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and GASB.
- Knowledge of fund accounting.
- Accounting experience.
- Experience preparing financial reports and working year‑end audits.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with follow‑through.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and People Soft applications.
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain spreadsheets.
- Ability to analyze, balance, and/or reconcile financial data.
- Supervisory experience.
- Operation of a state vehicle.
- Required travel: occasional travel between campuses.
