Government and Public Sector - Assurance - Manager

The opportunity

As a Manager in the Government & Public Sector Assurance practice, you will lead audit engagements, build client relationships, and develop audit teams while applying deep knowledge of accounting, finance, and regulatory environments.

• Serve as the primary day‑to‑day client contact.
• Build relationships and manage audit teams.
• Stay current with industry developments and profession standards.
• Communicate findings and maintain audit engagement status.

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, assess satisfaction, and proactively engage throughout the year.
• Direct field work, inform supervisors of audit engagement status, and manage staff performance.
• Apply a thorough understanding of complex accounting and auditing concepts to client situations.
• Delegate audit tasks effectively and provide guidance to assurance staff.
• Provide performance feedback, training, and performance reviews for staff.
• Contribute ideas, actively listen, and respond to team members’ perspectives.
• Foster an efficient, innovative, and team‑oriented work environment.
• Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge, and enhance service delivery.
• Develop an understanding of EY’s service lines and encourage team members to apply firm services.

• Approximately 5 years of related work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 4 years of related experience with a graduate degree and at least 2 years of audit experience with a public accounting firm.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• U.S. CPA license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.
• Excellent project‑management skills and advanced written and verbal communication.
• Dedication to teamwork and leadership.
• Integrity within a professional environment.
• Travel flexibility: up to 30% for federal practice; up to 80% for state, local, and education practice.

• CGFM and/or CDFM credentials.

We seek versatile leaders who can take on new responsibilities, build relationships, negotiate, think creatively, and solve complex issues.

• Comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Base salary range: $98,200 to $180,000 nationwide; $117,900 to $204,500 in major metros. Includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k), and varied paid time off.
• Hybrid work model: 40–60% on‑site collaboration for client‑serving roles.
