We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support accurate and timely payment operations for our team in Richmond, Virginia. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with financial records in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will help maintain strong vendor relationships, ensure payment information is properly documented, and contribute to dependable day-to-day accounting support.

Responsibilities:

• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, assign the appropriate accounting codes, and prepare them for timely payment.
• Enter and maintain accounts payable transactions in the accounting system while ensuring records are complete and up to date.
• Issue payments through approved methods and follow established financial controls and company procedures.
• Compare vendor statements and account activity against internal records to identify and resolve discrepancies quickly.
• Balance the accounts payable ledger regularly to confirm that invoices, credits, and payments are posted correctly.
• Prepare payables reports that show outstanding balances, payment activity, and current status for internal review.
• Support check runs and other payment cycles by organizing documentation and confirming approvals are in place.
• Communicate with vendors and internal teams to answer questions, research issues, and maintain accurate account information.
