About the Opportunity

A growing accounting firm based in Jacksonville, FL is in the process of acquiring a tax firm in Richmond, VA and is looking for an experienced Tax Manager to step into a key leadership position.

This individual will manage an established book of business with the opportunity to eventually take ownership of that book. The position offers a strong career path within a firm that is actively growing through acquisitions and looking for someone who can become one of the primary tax resources for the organization.

This is an opportunity for an experienced tax professional who wants more than a traditional management role. The firm is looking for someone who can lead, develop staff, work directly with clients, contribute ideas, and play an active role in shaping processes as the organization continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an existing book of business and develop strong relationships with clients
  • Prepare and review individual, business, trust, and nonprofit tax returns
  • Provide tax planning, consulting, and advisory support to clients
  • Serve as a primary tax resource for clients and internal team members
  • Review tax returns for accuracy, compliance, and quality
  • Manage workflow, deadlines, and tax engagements
  • Lead, oversee, and develop direct reports and other team members
  • Provide clear guidance and technical support to staff
  • Communicate complex tax matters clearly and professionally with clients
  • Identify opportunities to improve internal policies, procedures, workflows, and workpaper systems
  • Contribute ideas as the firm develops new processes and expands through acquisitions
  • Support the continued growth and development of the Richmond operation
Qualifications
  • Strong public accounting experience
  • Big 4 experience is highly valued
  • Minimum of 2 years of managerial experience
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of tax code and tax compliance
  • Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns
  • Experience with trust and nonprofit tax preparation and review
  • Strong tax planning and advisory experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing workflow and staff
  • Experience developing and overseeing direct reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities
  • CPA or EA preferred, with CPA highly preferred
Technology

Compensation and Benefits
  • $120,000 to $135,000 base salary
  • 8% to 12% discretionary bonus
