This position is a full-time, non-exempt role, typically scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during standard college business hours (generally between 8:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.).
Work hours may vary slightly based on operational needs of the School of STEM. Occasional early morning or evening hours may be required to support special events, registration periods, or other college activities.
This position is in-person to support front-office operations and student engagement.

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to ensure efficient office operations, coordinated communication and logistics, organized records management, and responsive service to students, faculty, and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the primary front-office contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
* Coordinate scheduling, meetings, events, and advisory board activities.
* Provide administrative support to faculty and department chairs, including preparation of correspondence, reports, and materials.
* Maintain organized digital and physical records, including SharePoint sites and shared resources.
* Assist with budget tracking, purchasing support, and office supply management.
* Support academic and operational processes to ensure compliance with college procedures.
* Facilitate clear and professional communication across internal and external stakeholders.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Minimum Qualifications
* Experience managing multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
* Experience maintaining accurate records, files, and documentation in digital and physical formats.
* Experience working independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
* Demonstrated skill in scheduling, coordination, and organizing meetings or events.
* Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment within established guidelines.
Additional Considerations
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a higher education or academic office environment.
* Experience providing administrative support to multiple stakeholders (e.g., faculty, chairs, students, external partners).
* Experience maintaining or updating SharePoint sites or similar document management platforms.
* Experience organizing events, meetings, or advisory board activities.
* Familiarity with VCCS systems, including SIS, Navigate, eVA, and Microsoft Teams.
* Ability to draft, proofread, and format professional correspondence, agendas, and documents.
