The Conduct and Care Coordinator works within the Residential Life team to foster a residential environment that fulfills the goals and vision of the Department of Residential Life & Housing Mission to provide safe, inclusive, and well‑maintained facilities that build intentional communities to empower residents in their academic excellence, citizenship and personal growth.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Conduct and Care Coordinator is a Masters Level, full‑time, experienced professional who will serve as part of the Residential Life team responsible for the daily conduct and care case management of over 6,000 on‑campus students. The position will report to the Assistant Director of Residential Life for Conduct and Care. The Conduct and Care Coordinator will assist with all areas of residential life related to student conduct and students of concern.

  • Serve as the point of contact for case management within Residential Life & Housing
  • Assist with regular review of policy and procedure for Residential Life and Housing
  • Serve as hearing officer for policy infractions including higher level policy infractions
  • Serve as Maxient user for Residential Life & Housing
  • Assist with training related to conduct, care, and policy for the residential student population
  • Assist with day‑to‑day crisis support and intervention
  • Serve as proxy to Assistant Director of Residential Life for Conduct and Care for both the Student Assistance & Support team and Title IX Case Coordination team
  • Collaborate with various campus partners across the Division of Student Affairs as well as the University
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year of professional experience in residential life/housing/conduct.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Crisis management experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple and changing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing technology such as web applications, online systems, database software, and standard office packages (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage several responsibilities at the same time, resolve problems using initiative and sound judgment.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and report data and to write informational materials and reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of student learning theory and developmental outcomes, and experience in its application.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment; and commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous Residence Life live‑in experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students and staff through the student conduct and student of concern processes
  • Student conduct and crisis response experience
  • Experience with the Maxient Conduct Manager system
  • Involvement with student leadership/advising
  • Experience collaborating with administrative services, operations, and facilities
Salary Range:

$55,000-$58,000
