Mailroom Clerk
Richmond, VA (onsite)
3+ Months (Temp to Hire)
Mon-Fri, 8am - 5pm
Summary
The Senior On-Site Services Specialist provides mail processing, document scanning, printing, and office support services in a professional environment. This role focuses primarily on processing inbound mail, opening and sorting letters, and supporting scanning and mail management operations. The ideal candidate has strong communication and organizational skills, basic Microsoft Office knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently while handling physical mail and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Process inbound mail, including opening, sorting, and distributing letters and other mail items.
- Scan mail and documents as required.
- Operate high-volume document imaging and scanning equipment.
- Learn and operate mail processing equipment, including mail meters.
- Operate document image handling software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Open, save, and transfer electronic files according to established procedures.
- Maintain records, reports, service logs, and supply inventories.
- Distribute mail, office supplies, and fax transmissions to designated locations.
- Perform filing and document archiving activities as required.
- Support shipping and receiving operations.
- Maintain organized and well-stocked work areas.
- Respond to customer questions and service requests.
- Perform routine inspections of office equipment and coordinate service requests as needed.
- Operate office equipment such as copiers, scanners, postage meters, fax machines, and related devices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 1 2 years of experience in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Basic mathematical and filing skills.
- Ability to learn and operate office machines and technical equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in an office environment and follow established procedures.
- Previous mail processing experience.
- Previous copy, print, scanning, or document services experience.
- Experience operating scanners, mail meters, or other mail processing equipment.
- Experience with document imaging or mail management systems.
