The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Rep to expand our client relationships in the Greater Richmond area.
This role focuses on developing partnerships with companies that need hiring support and introducing them to our recruiting and executive search services. Once a client engagement is secured, our internal recruiting team manages candidate sourcing and fulfillment.
This structure allows you to focus primarily on business development, client acquisition, and relationship management, while our recruiting team handles the hiring process.
This position is structured as an independent contractor (1099) opportunity.
Role OverviewThe Business Development Executive will focus on prospecting, client meetings, and building relationships with companies across the Richmond business community. You will work with business owners, executives, and hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and present appropriate recruiting solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and engage companies throughout the Greater Richmond market (Business Development)
- Introduce recruiting and executive search services to businesses seeking hiring support (Client Acquisition)
- Meet with decision‑makers to understand hiring needs and determine the appropriate recruiting model (Consultative Sales)
- Develop long‑term partnerships with clients to support future hiring needs (Relationship Management)
- Track outreach, meetings, and opportunities using CRM tools (Pipeline Management)
We welcome experienced sales professionals from any B2B industry, including:
- Technology or SaaS
- Industrial or manufacturing
- Logistics or transportation
- Commercial services
- Insurance or financial services
- Marketing or advertising
- Business services
- 2+ years of B2B sales or business development experience
- Strong prospecting and relationship‑building skills
- Comfortable working in a performance‑based compensation structure
- Self‑motivated with strong time management skills
- CRM experience (Hub Spot, Salesforce, or similar) preferred
- Professional network in the Richmond area is a plus
This role is structured as a 1099 independent contractor position with performance‑based compensation tied to successful client engagements.
- Compensation is based on a percentage of recruiting placement fees
- Typical client fees are approximately 20% of the candidate’s first‑year salary
- Compensation is issued after client payment is received
Example:
If a role is filled with a $150,000 salary and the placement fee is $30,000, the commission would be 30% of the placement fee.
