Overview
Virginia Peninsula Community College is seeking a Tutoring Center Support Specialist to provide day‑to‑day operational, administrative, and program support for tutoring services. The role ensures smooth front‑line operations, coordinates logistics, and supports the implementation of tutoring initiatives under the direction of the Tutoring Coordinator.
Responsibilities- Full‑time, grant‑funded position; continuation of employment based on funding availability.
- Act as Campus Security Authority (Clery Act) and Responsible Employee (Title IX).
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting the agency or state government during emergency situations.
- Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and communication for tutoring services.
- Maintain accurate data tracking and record keeping.
- Support both virtual and in‑person tutoring delivery.
- Work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings.
- Experience in administrative support or project coordination.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, scheduling systems, and standard office technology.
- Knowledge of tutoring environments, student success services, and appointment systems.
- Basic understanding of customer service principles.
- Strong organization, written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, maintain confidentiality, and support a flexible schedule.
- Work experience at a two‑year or four‑year college or university is an additional consideration.
- Familiarity with tutoring programs or student support services and experience with scheduling or purchasing systems.
- Experience with scheduling software or purchasing systems is advantageous.
- Ability to work at all campus locations.
- Ability to work effectively in a college or academic environment.
