Job Overview
Roads & Grounds Supervisor – Petersburg, Virginia (Fort Lee). Exempt, full‑time, day shift.
Compensation: $90,000 - $105,000, depending on experience.

- Identify and mitigate safety hazards on job sites through effective risk controls and utilize activity Hazard Analysis (AHA).
- Conduct root cause analyses to promote a safe working environment and maintain adherence to Tessera's Accident Reporting process.
- Foster positive client interactions using effective interpersonal skills, demonstrating respect, empathy, and responsiveness.
- Supervise equipment operators, truck drivers, tractor operators, mechanics, grounds maintenance laborers, and temporary employees as required.
- Plan and organize workloads and staff assignments; train, motivate, evaluate, and counsel assigned staff; review progress and direct changes as needed.
- Provide advice to staff; communicate official plans, policies and procedures.
- Ensure that assigned areas are performed within budget; ensure effective and efficient use of personnel, materials, facilities and time.
- Oversee post‑wide grounds maintenance to include mowing, trimming, edging, seeding, fertilizing, mulching, weed control, and various other tasks involving heavy equipment and tractor operations.
- Oversee construction/repair/maintenance of roads, including clearing, grading, drainage and foundation work.
- Oversee post‑wide snow removal operations as required.
- Prepare various documents including schedules, progress reports, training plans, attendance status, performance evaluations, time‑keeping records, accident reports, and other employee documents as necessary.
- Communicate and interact directly with the customer; inform the customer of grounds maintenance activities and determine customer needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Ensure quality service to meet contract requirements.
- Follow up on discrepancies identified by QC and QA inspections, and ensure corrections are made as necessary.
- Conduct supply and equipment inventory and ensure accountability.
- Maintain tools and equipment in accordance with preventive maintenance schedule.
- Ensure all areas are clean, sanitary, safe and orderly and remain in a functional state.
- Maintain a professional appearance and always adhere to PPE and safety requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5‑8 years of experience in supervisory or related ground or equipment maintenance roles.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Reading and understanding contract requirements and maps.
- Ability to multi‑task throughout the workday with constant interruptions.
- Proficiency with computerized work control systems (Microsoft Office) and spreadsheets.
- CDLB preferred.
Employees must be able to perform the following physical demands for extended periods with or without assistance: lift and/or move up to 50pounds; reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours; climb in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs. Additional requirements include standing or sitting for several hours, and perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
Requirements- Valid state driver’s license with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
