Product Manager – Americas
This is an exciting position supporting the Americas region with a focus on market analysis for competition and customer needs, supporting new product development roll‑out efforts, working directly with key customers to broaden their product line offerings, and supporting the Global Marketing Strategy. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience in the specialty chemicals or oil industry in a Product Manager or marketing support role.
Job SummaryLead, plan, and direct the marketing of specific product lines and services by executing the following responsibilities personally, in conjunction with regional functional personnel and in alignment with global strategy and financial objectives. Typically, responsible for $25 M revenue and $5 M gross profit.
Responsibilities- Lead the business by developing, communicating, and executing 5‑year strategic plans for market segments and customer product portfolios. Understand the products and services that you offer and that competitors offer to the marketplace from the perspective of comparison, substitution, strengths and weaknesses, and how they serve the needs of the customers and market.
- Exhibit leadership and poise in the face of pressure, adversity, and ambiguity while managing conflict constructively to facilitate success in an environment of healthy tension.
- Articulate a deep, abiding belief that delivering insights and solutions for the customer drives business strategy. Use a consultative selling approach and New Product Development processes to constantly seek new ways to achieve profitable growth with an outside‑in perspective; discover what is influencing current customer needs; demonstrate excellence in serving customers by finding profitable win‑win solutions; understand the customer’s business, the customer’s customers’ business, and their business.
- Introduce new products by following NPD processes and enter new markets (new frontiers) as part of strategic planning.
- Analyze market forces and competition, the value provided by products, and product cost to define and implement appropriate pricing for the products. Perform economic analyses to evaluate product line profitability. Recommend modifications to product portfolios as appropriate to cater to local market needs, customer demands, and our goal for profit growth and working‑capital minimization.
- Develop a deep and broad understanding of the organization, structure, and business processes and culture. Know how functions relate to each other and influence without authority to lead and progress strategic and tactical plans throughout the organization. Identify potential issues and influence the people most appropriate to deliver desired results.
- Promote the 5‑year strategies and 1‑year tactical marketing plans internally and externally to ensure support from all departments.
- Work closely with the business function to ensure the strategy fits with global strategies and objectives.
- Consult with R&D regarding the status of NPD projects to successfully deliver new product introductions.
- Work with sales staff and key target accounts to define and implement strategic partners.
- Cultivate relationships with key customers, industry influencers, and key strategic partners.
- For each market served, recommend and manage channels to market (e.g., distributors, co‑marketing opportunities, or direct sales) and highest priority customers.

Technical Qualifications- BS/BA in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or MBA in Marketing.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience in specialty chemicals or additives.
- 3‑5 years in a marketing function, including market and competitive analysis.
- 5+ years of experience in the petroleum industry.
- 6+ years interfacing with Project Management or marketing functions in B2C or B2B industry.
