Job Duties

To assist the Captain, Emergency Services Unit in preparing the VADOC for emergencies and recovery while maintaining operations. To ensure the departments compliance with current standards for emergency response training through active development implementation and evaluation of the Incident Command System programs and exercises. These trainings will incorporate the National Incident Management System (NIMS) in their development and application. This position provides a standardized approach to incident management that is scalable and flexible, enhancing cooperation’s and interoperability among responders, provides tor comprehensive all - hazard preparedness, maximizes efficient resource coordination among jurisdictions or agency branches and reflects best practices.

This position provides a complete training experience including a process for corrective actions and training a variety of special teams with the VADOC such as Special Response Team Level One and Level Two as well as the Critical Incident Negotiation Team.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. DCJS Certification. Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement. Experience supervising corrections staff. Working experience planning, scheduling, and/or organizing work to include timekeeping and duty roster management. Experience in reviewing and evaluating records and reports and applying post orders. Demonstrated knowledge of practices and procedures governing security and/or administration. Ability to receive, understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions.

Working knowledge in the use of firearms, radio equipment, physical control devices, electric and electronic controls. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs to include outlook.

Additional Considerations

LEAD Graduate or equivalent applicable experience and/or training. Working experience with evidence-based practices.
