We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and/or residential construction projects throughout Virginia
. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to help deliver high-quality projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The Assistant Project Manager will play a key role in supporting daily project operations, ensuring clear communication between all stakeholders, and assisting with the financial and administrative aspects of construction projects. This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all phases of construction while contributing directly to successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day project management activities from project startup through closeout
  • Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to promote efficient workflow and timely completion of work
  • Assist in tracking project budgets, cost reports, and resource allocation to support financial performance
  • Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, schedules, meeting minutes, and change orders
  • Participate in project meetings with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors as needed
  • Support quality control efforts to ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and company standards
  • Help ensure job sites comply with all safety regulations and company safety policies
  • Assist in identifying and resolving on-site issues to minimize delays and disruptions
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager regarding project progress, risks, and potential challenges
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists, warranties, and final documentation
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction project management or assistant project management roles
  • Experience with commercial, retail, and/or residential construction projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and job site coordination
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Comfortable working with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and internal project teams
  • Proficiency with construction project management software (such as Procore, Buildertrend, or similar platforms) is a plus
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a deadline-driven environment
