Summary

A commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to run field operations on ground-up and renovation projects in the commercial sector. This role is ideal for someone who has overseen grocery stores, retail centers, tenant improvement work, or mid-size ground-up buildings. The Superintendent will lead all onsite activity, coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, and ensure safety, quality, and communication with the project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily onsite field operations for commercial ground-up and renovation projects
  • Manage subcontractors, scheduling, inspections, site logistics, and project phasing
  • Review plans, scopes, and verify field installation aligns with design intent
  • Maintain jobsite safety protocols, documentation, and daily reporting
  • Coordinate shutdowns, night work, and occupied retail environments when required
  • Work closely with the Project Manager on schedule updates, RFIs, submittals, and change items
  • Communicate with clients, architects, and vendors to resolve jobsite issues
  • Maintain quality control for structural, architectural, and finish work
  • Assist with project closeout, punch lists, and turnover requirements
Qualifications
  • 7+ years as a Superintendent in commercial construction
  • Experience with retail, grocery, TI, shopping centers, light industrial, or mid-rise ground-up projects
  • Ability to run multiple trades and manage fast-paced schedules
  • Strong understanding of sequencing, inspections, and commercial building systems
  • Ability to read plans, coordinate with design teams, and resolve field conflicts
  • Proficiency with daily reports and project documentation
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • OSHA certification preferred
