Atlantic Constructors, Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven Industrial Estimating Manager to lead and oversee the estimating process for industrial construction projects throughout Virginia and surrounding markets. This role is responsible for managing estimating efforts, coordinating with the industrial preconstruction team, coordinating with operations and executive leadership, and leading a team of estimators to support the company's continued growth.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, deep knowledge of construction systems and pricing, and experience managing estimates across multiple disciplines including sheet metal, plumbing, piping, structural steel, millwright, and other industrial construction scopes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the estimating team for industrial construction projects from conceptual budgeting through final proposal submission
- Develop accurate cost estimates, bid packages, labor forecasts, and pricing strategies for negotiated and competitive bid work
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify scope requirements, risks, and opportunities
- Coordinate with project management, operations, engineering, VDC/BIM, purchasing, and executive leadership throughout the preconstruction process as needed
- Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, including solicitation, scope review, bid leveling, and final pricing evaluations
- Establish and maintain estimating standards, processes, historical cost databases, and best practices
- Participate in client meetings, design-assist discussions, preconstruction planning, and value engineering efforts
- Support business development initiatives by assisting industrial precon with project pursuits, presentations, and strategic planning
- Monitor market trends, labor rates, material pricing, and industry conditions impacting project costs
- Mentor and develop estimating staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Ensure all estimates align with company objectives, profitability goals, and operational capabilities
- Assist with piping, steel, and millwright estimates as needed
- Additional responsibilities as management deems necessary and appropriate
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of estimating experience within industrial construction
- Prior leadership or management experience overseeing estimating teams or large preconstruction efforts
- Strong understanding of construction methods, project delivery models, scheduling, and cost controls
- Experience estimating projects involving mechanical, electrical, plumbing, piping, HVAC, or industrial systems strongly preferred
- Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction management platforms
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with negotiated, conceptual, GMP, and hard-bid estimating
- Familiarity with design-build and design-assist project delivery methods
- Knowledge of local and regional construction markets throughout Virginia and the Southeast
- Experience working with large-scale commercial, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, mission critical, or institutional projects

Work Environment- Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment
- Position will require visits to industrial work sites; ability to navigate project sites and wear necessary PPE
This role is for an on‑site position. Qualified applicants must be able to commute daily to ACI's headquarters in Richmond, VA or must plan to relocate to the area shortly.
