Commercial Construction Project Engineer – HITT Futures Program

Build your future in construction management by joining the award‑winning HITT Futures Program as a commercial construction project engineer (PE) at a national general contractor. The PE role is designed for college graduates, Veterans, and others passionate about building. This one‑year program provides onsite experience, structured training, and a fast‑track progression to an assistant project manager or superintendent.

• Commit to full onsite presence for the 12‑month training program, shadowing and learning daily project operations.
• Demonstrate understanding of training topics throughout the first year, participating fully in performance reviews on a 4‑month cadence.
• Follow directions, task assignments and coaching from a dedicated Futures Program Sponsor.
• Show required professional skills: clear communication, manage multiple tasks and priorities, demonstrate integrity, seek continuous improvement, exercise flexibility, collaborate across teams, exhibit punctuality and engagement, and master job‑specific skills.
• Set up and maintain jobsite office and records, update as‑built drawings, perform site protection installation, assist construction tasks, participate in site inspections, and update project schedule.
• Perform material take‑offs, place supplier orders, receive deliveries, assist superintendent with survey instruments, and interpret basic tests and reports.
• Set up and run subcontractor foremen meetings, understand cost implications, assist project managers with budgeting and client management.
• Implement HITT’s Corporate Safety Program: conduct weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and complete safety reports.

• High school diploma required; a four‑year degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business strongly preferred; military experience highly valued.
• Previous commercial job‑site experience preferred.
• Passion for the construction industry and on‑site work.
• Ability to learn sector‑specific software:
  Microsoft Office 365, Pro Core, Adobe Suite, Blue Beam, JD Edwards.
• Physical ability to walk/stand long periods and lift up to 50lbs.
