Senior Superintendent - Richmond, VA
Oversees the operations of a construction site, from planning to completion. Responsible for the performance of all sub‑contractors ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Manages multiple job‑site operations or single locations comprised of high‑profile large value contracts. Promotes, executes, and adheres to the company’s safety program, encouraging all employees and subcontractors to adopt safety as a culture. This role may have direct reports.
Qualifications- 8+ years of related experience in the construction industry with a commercial and/or industrial general contractor.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and all personnel levels.
- Ability to manage all resources, including vendors, subcontractors, time, and prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines and deliver high‑quality projects.
- Strong ability to adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast‑paced work environment; demonstrate integrity consistent with Centennial's core values; collaborate effectively in a team; strong verbal and written communication skills; adapt to evolving technology and software such as Microsoft Office, Pro Core, Adobe, and Blue Beam.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field highly desired.
- Project Oversight: Manage multiple large‑value, high‑profile projects; work with the Project Manager to outline project timetable and update schedules; control all job‑site operations for compliance with contract requirements, noise and dust control, non‑interruption of Owner activities, and utility shutdown procedures; organize daily safety inspections; complete daily project reports; manage punch‑list completion and project closeout.
- Subcontractor Management: Supervise and coordinate multiple subcontractors and operations support staff for multiple projects at various locations; maintain ongoing communication with Project Safety Officer, Project Manager, Quality Control, subcontractors, and more.
- Safety: Ensure compliance with Centennial's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality guidelines and procedures along with all local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.).
- Travel between project sites that are often miles apart or far from the assigned office location; occasional travel may be required.
- Work in an office environment and visit construction sites under various weather conditions.
- Ability to walk terrain and surfaces that may be far, uneven or temporary.
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.
- Ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel.
- Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
