A growing commercial construction company in the Richmond area is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Construction Project Manager to oversee complex ground-up construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This leadership role requires exceptional project oversight, team management, client relations, and financial stewardship skills. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact between project stakeholders and field operations while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the preconstruction activities for assigned projects.

Coordinate project initiation through completion, acting as the primary liaison between ownership groups and project teams.

Ensure all project personnel fully understand contract requirements, scope, and project objectives.

Direct, mentor, and assess site management staff while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Support organizational growth initiatives by actively contributing to business development efforts.

Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and accountability in all business interactions.

Represent the organization positively through strong client relationships, industry engagement, and community involvement.

Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, risk management, and execution.

Ensure project milestones, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.

Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in commercial ground-up construction.

Prior experience serving as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Lead Superintendent, or similar leadership role.

Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop project teams while promoting employee growth and engagement.

Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, teams, and priorities simultaneously.

Strong expertise in project planning, estimating, scheduling, cost management, contract administration, field operations, negotiations, and financial reporting.

Excellent organizational, leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Advanced understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and related documentation.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to professionally resolve conflicts involving clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Extensive experience with subcontractor procurement, bid solicitation, contract negotiations, scope development, and subcontract administration.

Working knowledge of project scheduling methodologies, dependencies, and constraints.

Proficiency with construction management and project controls software, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, Procore, and other cloud-based project management platforms.

Thorough understanding of AIA contract documents, particularly Cost-Plus GMP agreements.

OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.
