Water/Wastewater Senior Construction Inspector – Position located in Richmond, Virginia or Fairfax, VA. The role involves inspection and constructability reviews during design, focusing on water and wastewater facilities including pump stations, pipelines, and treatment plants.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor contractor operations to ensure compliance with plans, contract terms, and specifications.
  • Inspect structural, mechanical, electrical, and site improvement work; coordinate schedules with the prime contractor and agencies; review and monitor contractor plans of operation; provide technical guidance to engineers on submittals and schedules; advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments.
  • Advise contractors on safety procedure violations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in startup activity inspections.
  • Take field measurements, oversee materials testing; check equipment; maintain comprehensive project records including daily diaries, materials notebooks, as-built plans, progress schedules, work orders, and monthly estimates.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or associate’s degree in construction management or related field preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in water and wastewater construction management or inspection.
  • Relevant certifications for water and wastewater construction management and inspection.
  • Technical knowledge to read and interpret water and wastewater infrastructure construction drawings, contract specifications, and apply engineering principles for field adjustments.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods such as CMAR, DB, and DBB.
  • Knowledge of current state and federal environmental laws and policies related to design and construction.
  • Computer skills for project documentation and field inspection equipment operation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Benefits / Compensation

Salary Range: $97,000–$120,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, location, and market conditions.
