Construction Materials Technician

Pay range: $18-30 per hour

As a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician
, you will travel to construction sites to inspect contractor work and perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials. Using smartphones and tablets, you'll document inspections and test results in real time for review by project managers. This is a great opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, traveling to project sites, and contributing to the success of critical infrastructure and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials
• Conduct construction inspections and document observations
• Prepare accurate field reports and record test results electronically
• Perform basic laboratory testing on soil and concrete samples
• Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and project teams
• Ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior construction, inspection, or field-testing experience preferred
• ACI Level I, State DOT, WACEL, ICC, or other related certifications are a plus
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Basic math and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the day
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 pounds regularly
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions

Additional Requirements:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to travel to job sites as needed
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and driving record review
