The Superintendent II is responsible for supervising assigned Project Engineers, Assistant Superintendents, Superintendents I, trainees, and direct labor while fostering a challenging and rewarding environment that supports professional growth and development. This role oversees field operations, coordinates with trade partners and project stakeholders, and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple trade partners and concurrent phases of construction.
  • On smaller projects, oversee all field operations from Notice to Proceed through project closeout and warranty.
  • Direct assigned phases of construction and manage associated trade partners.
  • Mentor Superintendents I and Assistant Superintendents to support their professional development.
  • Perform Superintendent I responsibilities when one is not assigned to the project.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and trade partners to resolve field issues and maintain project progress.
  • Collaborate with the project field team to ensure seamless installation and execution of work.
  • Assist with subcontractor progress meetings and maintain meeting documentation in Procore.
  • Participate in monthly project review meetings.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to field personnel.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities to resolve scope conflicts and drawing discrepancies.
  • Monitor subcontractor scheduling, productivity, quality, and safety performance.
  • Maintain an up-to-date set of as-built drawings on site.
  • Coordinate the construction of exterior mock-ups, including finishes, roofing, windows, air barriers, flashing, trim, and related details for architect and owner review.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite, including field offices and trailers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Receive and document material deliveries using project material control logs.
  • Communicate professionally and ethically with all project participants.
  • Attend required corporate meetings, training programs, and Harkins University seminars and webinars.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive construction experience.
  • Proficiency in estimating, scheduling, budget and cost control, negotiation, field supervision, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Experience soliciting, negotiating, awarding, and managing subcontract agreements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain baseline construction schedules using logic and scheduling constraints.
  • Working knowledge of AIA contract documents and Cost-Plus GMP contracts.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development experience.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Phoenix, and Procore, with the ability to quickly learn additional construction software.

Harkins offers a competitive total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus opportunities, and comprehensive benefits.

Base Salary

$80,000–$100,000 annually
