Insight Global is seeking a Land Surveyor to join a growing utility and infrastructure team in the Mechanicsville area, supporting a diverse range of projects while gaining opportunities for long-term career growth and leadership development.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of field and office work and wants to grow into leadership responsibilities over time. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of surveying projects, including boundary surveys, construction layout, utility corridors, and infrastructure development.

Responsibilities
  • Perform land and utility-related surveys for infrastructure and development projects.
  • Collect, verify, and document field data used for engineering and construction activities.
  • Support boundary surveys, property research, construction staking, and layout work.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and/or Carlson software to create and review survey deliverables.
  • Collaborate with field crews, designers, and project teams to ensure survey accuracy.
  • Assist with QA/QC reviews and project coordination efforts.
Basic Qualifications
  • 2-3+ years of land surveying, survey technician, survey crew, or related experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Carlson, or similar CAD software.
  • Background in field surveying, boundary surveys, construction staking, or utility-related work.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites.
  • Strong attention to detail and mathematical aptitude.
Preferred Experience
  • Surveyor-in-Training (SIT/LSIT) or candidates pursuing surveying licensure.
  • Leadership experience directing field crews or coordinating projects.
  • Experience with deed research, property records, or utility/infrastructure projects.
  • Daily local travel with employees returning home each night.
  • Clear growth path into crew leadership and project management.
  • Open to candidates ranging from entry-level professionals with relevant education and CAD experience to experienced surveyors seeking long-term stability.

Pay Range: $25.00 to $35.00 hourly, depending on experience.
