Construction BIM Technician

Job Overview

The BIM Technician is responsible for creating coordinated 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings that support the efficient installation of mechanical, plumbing, or sheet metal systems on commercial and industrial construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers and field teams, this role identifies and resolves design conflicts, optimizes system layouts to reduce installation costs, and ensures all drawings align with project specifications and fabrication standards.

• Coordinate and prepare Autodesk Revit model as per project specifications.
• Assist Project Manager in identifying and resolving design conflicts.
• Create efficient layouts, eliminating unnecessary duct, pipe, and fittings.
• Facilitate coordination with outside systems through web or in‑person meetings.
• Review project documents, understand scope of work, and provide accurate estimates to Detailing Team Leader.
• Communicate with Project Manager or Engineer, document directives, and notify BIM Coordinator of changes.
• Generate full coordination and fabrication drawings and provide required paperwork.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Navisworks, CAD detailing, and Revit preferred (not required).
• Understanding of mechanical pipe, plumbing or sheet metal trade in commercial/industrial construction.
• Ability to read and understand contract drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency in CAD detailing and design.
• Experience with Revit and 3D design.
