Architectural Designer
This role offers an experienced architectural designer the opportunity to work on data center and other commercial projects within a dynamic, collaborative studio environment. The position suits a highly motivated, agile professional with strong technical and design capabilities who enjoys contributing to all phases of a project, from concept through construction documentation. You will work closely with senior designers and multidisciplinary teams, leveraging your Revit expertise while continuing to grow your skills in a supportive, training-focused environment.
Responsibilities- Compile project data and perform design computations in collaboration with the project team.
- Work with senior designers and project teams on conceptual design, presentations, design development, and production to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Apply creative design concepts to projects and build upon concepts developed by others.
- Participate in project proposals to help develop design solutions when needed.
- Use knowledge of industry-standard construction techniques, building regulations, and engineering principles to inform project plans and details.
- Support design efforts and client presentations to help develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Develop, modify, and review drawings to accurately incorporate and communicate the design intent.
- Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and implementation documents to support internal reviews and client presentations.
- Collaborate on the development and refinement of design throughout all appropriate phases of the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to construction documentation, including construction drawings and construction administration tasks for commercial projects.
- Balance workload with an emphasis on approximately 80% production and 20% front-end design activities, depending on project phase.
- Engage in projects across various commercial sectors, including mission critical/data centers, healthcare, sports, K-12, hospitality, and life science as project needs arise.
- 5+ years of commercial architecture experience, including experience in all phases of design.
- Proficiency in Revit, with the ability to use Revit Architecture for production and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience with construction documents, construction drawings, and construction documentation.
- Experience in commercial construction projects, including data centers and other large-scale facilities.
- Background in design development and construction administration for commercial projects.
- Basic understanding of building codes and ADA requirements.
- Strong architectural design skills and the ability to contribute to both front-end design and production.
- BS in Architecture preferred or equivalent architectural education.
- Actively pursuing architectural licensure.
- 3+ years of professional architectural experience.
- Ability to interface confidently and professionally with clients.
- Experience with healthcare projects is beneficial.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

The role is based in a studio environment that emphasizes collaboration, design excellence, and professional growth. The office operates on a hybrid schedule, with three days in the office and two days working remotely each week. You will work primarily in Revit and related production tools, with approximately 80% of your time focused on production and 20% on front-end design activities.
The studio structure includes dedicated groups for healthcare, mission critical/data center, and sports projects, with additional exposure to K-12, hospitality, and life science work. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.84 - $36.00/hr.
