Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology is to provide exceptional, accessible gastrointestinal and nutrition care for infants, children, and teens by delivering comprehensive services, timely testing, and urgent support across CHoR’s downtown and community locations—ensuring every child receives expert, compassionate care close to home.
Chief Purpose of this Position in Support of the Above Mission or Goal: The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research. We are seeking a full-time BC/BE pediatric hepatologist to join our division. CHoR is a full-service children's hospital that offers robust pediatric clinical care, research, and education.
Applicants should have experience in both pediatric hepatology and transplantation. This position will offer a faculty rank in the VCU School of Medicine with affiliation in the Department of Surgery and assist in the enrichment of a multidisciplinary pediatric transplantation core team didates will be part of a dynamic effort to enhance an academic gastroenterology center. Resources are available to assist in establishing a comprehensive pediatric team including availability of nursing, nutrition, and psychology support.
Research and other scholarly activity are encouraged, and opportunities exist for collaborative research.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching:
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Hepatology. Faculty member will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents and Chief Residents in GI. - Research:
Faculty member will have experience in securing revenue through grants and contracts and will serve as a research mentor to other members of the division and the Department of Pediatrics. - Service:
Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional through journal review, conference presentations. - Clinical:
Faculty member will provide clinical support within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology in support of clinical mission of CHoR of VCU Health System.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatrics
- Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatric Gastroenterology
- Board Certification/Board Eligible in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology
- Experience with clinical care of patients ages birth to 21
- Experience with education of house staff, medical students, and others
- Experience with research
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications
- Sub-board and or additional graduate degree
- Experience with advocacy at local, state, and national levels
- Success in generating revenue (grants/contracts)
