About the Position
Exciting Locum OB/GYN Physician Opportunity – Richmond, VA
Join a dynamic and collaborative team as a Locum OB/GYN Physician providing vital women’s health services in Richmond, VA.
This role offers an excellent chance to enhance your professional experience while making a meaningful impact in a respected medical practice setting, combining office-based and hospital coverage for comprehensive patient care.
Key responsibilities include managing a predominantly low-risk pregnancy practice with 10% high-risk cases, performing routine OB procedures such as fetal monitoring, ultrasounds, deliveries (vaginal, assisted, and C-sections), and minor gynecological procedures including IUD insertions, cystoscopies, and minor surgeries. You will work alongside a dedicated team of 4 physicians and 5 midwives, supported by skilled clinical staff, with an average of 25-30 patients daily.
Required Skills:
MD or DO licensed in Virginia
Proven experience in obstetrics and gynecology
Proficiency in obstetric procedures, ultrasound interpretation, labor and delivery management
Excellent patient communication and clinical judgement
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Nice to Have
Skills:
Experience with high-risk pregnancies or complex OB cases
Comfort with performing advanced gynecological surgeries
Familiarity with electronic medical records systems, especially EPIC
Previous experience in a hospital and office-based setting
Preferred
Education and Experience:
Medical degree (MD or DO)
Board certification or eligibility in OB/GYN
Minimum 2 years of clinical practice experience, particularly in obstetrics
Other Requirements:
Certified in BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and ACLS preferred
Able to obtain licensure and credentials in Virginia (approx. 120 days)
Flexibility to provide call coverage with a 1 in 4 call ratio
No travel restrictions; onsite lab and ultrasound capabilities available
