Shift:  24-hour call (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM, weekends)

Estimated Weekly Salary:  $6,310 - $7,480 per week

EMR:  Epic (Epic EMR experience preferred)

Credentialing Timeframe:  Approximately 90 days

Required Qualifications

Board Certified in Gastroenterology (required)

Active Virginia medical license (required) — Virginia license or ability to obtain quickly preferred

ERCP proficiency and certification (required)

Experience with Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and advanced GI procedures preferred

At least 1 year of clinical gastroenterology practice experience

Flu vaccination (required); COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred

Clean malpractice and background history (required)

Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation (required)

Ability to cover open weekend shifts as scheduled (weekend shifts, call coverage)

Primary Responsibilities

Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care during weekend call coverage (hospital-based GI physician duties)

Perform a full range of GI procedures, including:

ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic)

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)

Upper GI endoscopy: biopsies, foreign body removal, cautery, injection/banding of varices

Lower GI endoscopy: colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy

Esophageal dilatation and manometry

Small bowel biopsy and liver biopsy

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) placement and management

Insertion and management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tube

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (hospitalists, surgery, radiology, nursing) to coordinate patient care

Document all patient encounters and procedures accurately in Epic EMR

Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality metrics, and patient safety standards
