The mission of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases is to provide superior subspecialtyclinical care to the children of Central Virginia, to provide outstanding training in infectious diseases for medical students,residents and subspecialty fellows, and to generate new knowledge through both clinical and basic science research projects.

The Division of Infectious Diseases provides clinical care to patients with all types of infectious processes in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Services will include:

• Inpatient and outpatient consultation for children withsuspected infections, or infections that are complex, chronic orrecurrent, or particularly difficult to treat;
• Phone consultation for physicians and other pediatric medical professionals who need assistance and advice with infectious disease issues pertinent to their patients;
• Consultation for review of antibiotic, antiviral or antifungaltherapies, including assistance in drug monitoring for toxicitiesand side effects for both inpatient and home health services;
• Consultation on epidemiologic issues in the health care settingas well as in the community;
• Services in specialized outpatient clinics.
• As a component of the program, the position will play a keyrole in developing the non-HIV Pediatric Infectious Diseasesoutpatient program to ensure timely and appropriate access to patients across multiple modalities including in-person visits,telehealth and e-consult.

• Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities. Faculty member will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students,Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable.

• Faculty member will have working knowledge in research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.

• Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, and engage in professional activities through journal review, conference presentations,etc.

• Faculty member will take on administrative duties associated with this role.

• Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases
• Experience with clinical care of patients
• Experience in an academic medical center
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member.
