Location & ScheduleMultiple locations, including Annandale, Sterling, and others within the NOVA system.
Teaching load: up to 12 credit hours in fall and spring semesters, up to 8 credit hours in summer. Courses may be delivered face‑to‑face, online, or in hybrid formats.
Must reside in the DC, VA, or MD DMV area.
Responsibilities- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to NOVA and VCCS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain current competence in the discipline or field of specialization.
- Meet assigned classes regularly and submit required records and reports promptly.
- Assist the agency or state government as required, particularly during emergency declarations.
- Master’s degree in the teaching field or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field, accredited by a regionally accredited institution.
- Prior experience teaching at the higher‑education level.
- Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.
- Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
- Proficiency in using instructional technology.
- No guaranteed continuation of employment; contract terms based on enrollment and staffing needs.
- No required travel; no supervision of employees.
