Overview
Geography Adjunct position for Fall 2026 at Germanna Community College. This is a part-time, in-person role with daytime availability at the Culpeper location. The position involves teaching geography courses and supporting the college’s mission within the Virginia Community College System.
Location and work arrangements:
Virginia, reside within reasonable commuting distance or willing to relocate. Telework options are subject to business needs.
- Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.
- Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.
- Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of GCC and the VCCS.
- Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization.
As a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.
KSA's /Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline
- Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer
- Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
- Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success
- Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely
- All teaching positions require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually
- Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development in virtual education
- Complete Growing with Canvas and TOPS 2.2 prior to teaching
- Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
- FEA Requirements:
Valid Virginia K12 Teaching License (preferred) or willingness to seek licensure - Prior teaching experience
- Work experience in the field
- Experience with online teaching
- Planning and teaching courses in the classroom
- Creating curriculum that meets student needs and learning outcomes
- Support student success
- Communicate effectively with students and colleagues
- Assess student learning and meet program requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
