Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two‑year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university‑parallel/college transfer programs.
Central Virginia Community College is seeking qualified individuals to serve as Adjunct Faculty in the Professional and Career Studies Division, teaching professional or technical courses in applied science or non‑associate degree occupational fields. The Professional and Career Studies Division includes:

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom, laboratory, and online environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
Employees must be able to work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, and community members with a commitment to diversity as a learning outcome to be culturally respectful, professionally competent, and civically responsible.
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree with at least eighteen graduate semester hours in the specific discipline
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent for Career and Technical Education Courses
- Official transcripts will be required prior to final offer
- Ability to demonstrate the use of relevant technology and learning management systems to effectively facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication
- Commitment to student engagement in the online teaching environment including maintaining consistent communication and virtual support mechanisms to ensure student success.
- Technology capability (access to WIFI, computers) to teach remotely
- All teaching positions of Central Virginia Community College require the ability to teach in a variety of modalities including virtually.
- Demonstrate competency and commitment to continuous professional development
- Teaching experience
- Work experience in the field
- Experience with online teaching
- Substantial, proven experience with innovative teaching and developing online courses in both the synchronous and asynchronous learning environments at a regionally accredited institution
