Mountain Empire Community College invites applications for adjunct instructors to teach in the School of Arts, Sciences, and Human Services. The College is a comprehensive two‑year institution serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. This position requires teaching in on‑campus, online, and nursing clinical settings during daytime, evenings, and weekends. Salary is based on academic preparation and work experience, following the VCCS Adjunct Pay Schedule and VCCS‑29 Faculty Ranking Profile.

Adjunct instructor positions are available in various areas within the School, including but not limited to arts, sciences, education, and business. These positions are open on a continuous, open‑until‑filled basis. Applicants will be contacted on an as‑needed basis. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom or virtual environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Responsibilities include delivering high‑quality instruction, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and actively contributing to the academic, professional, and community life of the college. The role emphasizes instructional excellence through innovative teaching practices, curriculum development, and assessment.

• In‑depth knowledge of the specific discipline or subject area relevant to the teaching assignment.

• Bachelor’s degree in the teaching field or an Associate’s in the teaching field with demonstrated competence in the field.
