Overview

MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH TEACHER POSITION

St. Michael’s Episcopal School seeks a qualified, full-time middle school math teacher for the  academic year. The Middle School hael’s emphasizes interdisciplinary learning and the development of essential 21st-century learning skills, helping students make meaningful connections among mathematics, real-world problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. This is a 10-month position and begins in August 2026.

The successful candidate will have…

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues;
  • A minimum of three years of experience teaching mathematics (preferably at the middle school level);
  • The requisite experience to comfortably teach math content from 6th grade math through High School Geometry;
  • A bachelor’s degree in education, math, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred, though not required;
  • A strong understanding of adolescent development and best practices in middle school education.

  • Demonstrate kindness, enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth;
  • Actively cultivate an inclusive classroom and a school environment grounded in empathy, respect, social responsibility, and an appreciation for individual differences;
  • Use effective classroom management practices that foster a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment;
  • Mentor middle school students in their academic, personal, and social-emotional growth;
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of grades, academic progress, behavior, and parent communication;
  • Willingly contribute to the life of the school beyond the classroom through advising, coaching, or leading extracurricular activities.
