Hiring Range: Adjunct faculty are paid based on a per-credit-hour rate. This rate is determined by the assigned rank and the discipline being taught. Assigned rank is based on a combination of education and teaching experience.

Job DescriptionReynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. We are seeking adjunct instructors to teach Opticinary courses.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)- Associate’s degree in Opticianry or a closely related teaching field is required.
- Must hold current certification from the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE), as applicable to assigned course content.
- Minimum of two (2) years of occupational experience in the field is required.
- Candidates assigned to teach online courses must provide documentation of appropriate credentials in distance education, as outlined in college policy.
- The selected candidate must successfully complete the college’s pre-employment security screening process.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related teaching field.
- Prior experience teaching in classroom and online laboratory settings.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in both teaching and hands-on instructional delivery is desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
