- Show genuine care and concern for students and parents.
Classroom
- Provide proactive care/supervision of students.
- Assist with ensuring a neat, welcoming, well-prepared and managed environment consistent with the school’s mission, values, objectives, policies, and procedures of best practice.
- Provide support for classroom and behavioral management as needed.
- Enthusiastically engage with students during all activities; ensuring all safety precautions are being followed.
- Provide extended care plans as requested by the Heights Academy Directors.
- Report all injuries and/or serious incidents to the Heights Academy Directors in a timely manner.
- Assist with the organization of the learning environment prior to the beginning of school year and throughout the year.
- Assist with the end of year pack up and storage of classroom/school supplies, rooms, etc.
Community
- Effectively make use of the school data system (Brightwheel) for parents and students providing timely and consistent reporting, conduct, etc.
- Collaborate with other teachers and other staff members to ensure each student’s needs are met as needed.
- Build relationships with students & parents, which transcends the classroom and shows genuine care and concern.
- Assist to meet with parents for feedback, concern resolution, and student course correction as needed and/or scheduled.
Continuing Education
- Attend occasional faculty meetings and team meetings for continued development, communication, and problem solving as requested by the Directors.
- Set and meet yearly goals, seek out professional growth opportunities, and achieve the required total of yearly continuing education credits.
- Attend school orientation and other training sessions.
- Collaborate with Directors to create teacher action plans for future growth after reflecting on the feedback from informal or formal observations.
Required
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Active member of Heights Church
- A passion for developing the next generation
- Demonstrated ability to work well with children
- High school diploma
- Early Childhood degree in-process
- CDA
- 2 years of teaching experience
- CPR/First Aid and/or MAT Certified
State Regulated – Religious Exemption for Child Day Centers
Heights Academy operates under religious exemption; adhering to all guidelines and regulations set forth by Virginia Department of Social Services and – Section 22.of Code of Virginia for Day Care Centers. All state health and safety guidelines are met for the facility along with student ratios.
