Job Overview
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks an adjunct instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program. The role is part‑time, appointment on a semester basis, and involves teaching a maximum of 12 credits per semester, which may include day, evening, weekend, off‑campus, or distance‑education courses.
Responsibilities- Teach developmental and/or college‑level courses, including distance‑learning, on‑site, and lab environments.
- Develop course syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessment tools.
- Integrate learning‑outcome assessment into course development and teaching.
- Use current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction (e.g., Canvas, Zoom).
- Contribute to the progress of the college and support the community‑college mission, teaching, learning, and student success.
- Attend required meetings and collaborate with faculty and staff.
- Nationally certified pharmacy technician with at least five years of experience performing technician tasks and a current, unrestricted registration in Virginia, or a pharmacist with a current and unrestricted license.
- High school diploma; an associate degree in a health‑related field preferred.
- PTCB certification required.
- Five or more years of pharmacy technician experience; sterile compounding experience a plus.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to deliver instruction in classroom, online, and lab settings.
- Experience working in a virtual environment using multiple software programs (MS Office, Canvas, Gmail, Zoom).
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Pharmacy technician training experience.
- Community college or training program teaching experience.
