Role Overview
The Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is looking for an Adjunct Math Faculty to teach Pre Calculus II (MTH 162) during the Fall 2026 semester (August 17 – December 15, 2026). The course is offered in a hybrid format at the Christanna Campus in Alberta, VA, with classes meeting Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 PM – 3:55 PM.
Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and deliver course content on trigonometric functions, analytic trigonometry, applications of trigonometry, and conics.
- Develop and maintain high‑quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
- Maintain engagement through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and monitor class attendance.
- Document and report attendance in compliance with college policies and communicate with students and departments as needed.
- Assist with special assignments such as other duties assigned or emergency declaration support.
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi and exams and develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Experience working with community‑college students and proficiency with instructional technologies (SMART boards, Zoom, Canvas).
- Commitment to student engagement and academic success.
- Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
- Teaching experience at the college level, with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Experience with instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas.
