Adjunct Math Faculty; Part-Time); PreCalculus II

Role Overview

The Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is looking for an Adjunct Math Faculty to teach Pre Calculus II (MTH 162) during the Fall 2026 semester (August 17 – December 15, 2026). The course is offered in a hybrid format at the Christanna Campus in Alberta, VA, with classes meeting Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 PM – 3:55 PM.

• Plan, develop, and deliver course content on trigonometric functions, analytic trigonometry, applications of trigonometry, and conics.
• Develop and maintain high‑quality course materials aligned with college standards and learning outcomes.
• Maintain engagement through the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) and monitor class attendance.
• Document and report attendance in compliance with college policies and communicate with students and departments as needed.
• Assist with special assignments such as other duties assigned or emergency declaration support.

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to write syllabi and exams and develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
• Experience working with community‑college students and proficiency with instructional technologies (SMART boards, Zoom, Canvas).
• Commitment to student engagement and academic success.
• Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.

• Teaching experience at the college level, with face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
• Experience with instructional technologies such as SMART boards, Zoom, and Canvas.
