- Introduce and demonstrate drawing concepts such as line, proportion, space, perspective, value, and composition.
- Apply drawing concepts to subject matter including still life, landscape, and the figure.
- Instruct students in the use of various media, such as pencil, charcoal, and ink wash.
- Organize field trips and gallery assignments appropriate to the curriculum.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring high‑quality course materials align with college standards.
- Maintain engagement through Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) for the online portion of the course.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments to support academic success.
- Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art.
- Clear demonstration of drawing skill adequate to teach this course.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to write syllabi and examinations.
- Ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the community college and student success.
- Teaching experience at the college level, including face‑to‑face and online/hybrid modalities.
- Competency in instructional technologies such as SMART Boards, Zoom, and Canvas LMS.
- Experience working with community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to student engagement and academic success.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned or assist the agency or state government during emergencies.
Fall 2026 Semester:
August 17 – December 15, 2026. Hybrid format (in‑person instruction on campus and online components).
Teaching assignments may include:
- Christanna Campus – Alberta, VA:
Tuesdays, 2:30 PM – 4:50 PM. - John H. Daniel Campus – Keysville, VA:
Mondays, 1:00 PM – 3:25 PM.
Telework options are subject to change based on business needs.
