Job DescriptionJob Title: Early Intervention Assistant
Terms of Employment: 9.5‑month Support (191 Day, 7 hours)
FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Work Location: Bellevue Elementary
Immediate Supervisor: School Principal/Office of Student Supports and Interventions
General Description: Duties performed typically in a school setting. Performs professional work providing teaching and/or training services to students. Requires frequent standing, sitting, light lifting up to 10 pounds, walking, vocal communication for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides small group instruction.
- Communicates with school personnel and parents regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress.
- Differentiates instruction based on assessment data.
- Upon request and availability, participates in team reviews concerning academic progress for students receiving services.
- Shares student data with applicable teachers and administration.
- Provides pre‑ and post‑assessment data to teachers and administrators.
- Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation.
- Follows required procedures and practices outlined in training.
- Attends all required training.
- Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Administers informal and formal assessments outlined in program.
- Evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional program objectives.
- Manages classroom organization.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or completion of 60 hours of college credit from an accredited college or university recognized by the Virginia Department of Education, or demonstrated knowledge and ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics instruction by achieving a passing score on the Para Pro Assessment.
- Minimum of one year working experience as an instructional assistant preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, time‑management, and public relations skills required.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Good skills in operating personal computers and related software.
- Adaptable to changing priorities, capable of working independently and/or with minimum supervision, and able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of child growth and development and paraprofessional instructional procedures and practices.

Pay Scale: G‑108.2 starting salary is $30,000 and maximum hiring salary is $46,135. Comes with excellent benefits.
