Position Overview
Adjunct Faculty – Political Science (Role Code: 282A0000, Agency:

Albemarle County – 003). Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The position is part‑time, exempt under FLSA, and may be teleworked as needed.
- Teach developmental and/or college‑level Political Science courses, including distance‑learning courses offered during the day and evening on weekdays and weekends.
- Primarily deliver instruction face‑to‑face with the possibility of remote instruction.
- Teach at any PVCC location, including the Giuseppe Center in Greene County and correctional facilities in Fluvanna, Buckingham, and Dillwyn.
- Plan and facilitate classroom and online instruction, utilizing technology resources to promote student success.
- Perform special assignments as directed, such as assisting the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Master’s degree in Political Science or a graduate degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Political Science.
- Minimum of two years successful teaching or related experience in Political Science.
- Experience with online teaching and proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
- Strong technology skills to work productively in an environment that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.
- Willingness to teach at prison sites and in diverse learning environments.
There is no employee supervision or required travel. The position may require use of a state vehicle.
