Position Title:
School of BTT Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Adjunct Faculty (Part‑Time)
Virginia Western Community College is inviting qualified candidates to serve as part‑time adjunct faculty in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). Positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course, semester basis as needed. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and to be active participants in departmental communication.
Responsibilities- Develop, deliver, and assess course content in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Heating, and Ventilation.
- Write syllabi, exams, and assignments that reflect industry trends and educational best practices.
- Create and implement learning strategies and assessments for students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Participate in departmental communication and meetings as required.
- Assist the agency or state government in emergency events when called upon.
- High school diploma with at least five years of current occupational experience in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Heating, and Ventilation.
- EPA 608 Universal certification.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi, exams, lessons, and develop curriculum and assessments.
- Experience working with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.
- Formal education from a certificate or higher degree program or apprenticeship in HVAC from an accredited school is an additional consideration.
- Possession of other nationally recognized industry certifications is desirable.
