Position Overview
St. Catherine’s School is an Episcopal day school in Richmond, Virginia. The Lower School After school Program runs daily and is for Lower School students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade
4. After school instructors must be able to create enrichment classes for the different age groups from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and then supervise students who stay till 6 p.m., including help with homework. Instructors are expected to stay current with best practices in elementary and girls’ education, establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and faculty, collaborate with staff, and support the school’s mission and core values.

Hours of Work
: 2:15 p.m.–6:15 p.m. Monday–Thursday; 2:00 p.m.–6:15 p.m. Friday
- Plan and execute creative, age‑appropriate enrichment activities for students in JK–4.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of students at all times.
- Provide homework assistance and academic support.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
- Maintain a positive and disciplined classroom environment, following school protocols.
- Build positive relationships with parents/guardians, providing updates on their child’s day.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university, or equivalent.
- Experience is preferred but not required.
- Demonstrate adaptability to new and evolving technology and the ability to show innovation and vision related to efficient processing of information.
- Demonstrate proficiency with oral and written communication.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid certified.
Travel is not a requirement for this role.
