True Community is a nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by Luke Thomas Kues with a mission to expand access to lifesaving skills, safety education, and wellness resources in underserved communities. Since its founding, True Community has equipped thousands of individuals with the knowledge and confidence to respond during emergencies through programs that prioritize equity, prevention, and community empowerment. The organization provides American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, AED, and Basic Life Support trainings, working alongside schools, community groups, businesses, and local partners to build safer and more prepared communities.
Role DescriptionThis is a part time, on site role for an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Instructor based in the Richmond Area. Instructors will teach hands on First Aid, CPR, AED, and Basic Life Support courses for individuals, community organizations, and workplaces. Responsibilities include delivering engaging course content, demonstrating and evaluating skills, maintaining participant safety, preparing training materials, and ensuring accurate course documentation.
Instructors will also serve as ambassadors for True Community by fostering a welcoming learning environment and supporting the organization’s mission to expand access to lifesaving training across diverse communities.
- Strong interest in emergency response, public health, or community safety
- Friendly, reliable, and comfortable facilitating hands on learning experiences
- Excellent communication and instructional skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences
- Reliable transportation and professional presentation skills
- Experience teaching, coaching, or facilitating trainings is a plus
- Willingness to complete instructor training and certification provided by True Community (no prior instructor certification required)
- Availability to teach at least two mornings per week, typically 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend opportunities
- Commitment to advancing equitable access to safety and wellness resources and making a meaningful community impact
Instructor training and certification are provided. Compensation ranges from $100 to $175 per class, with opportunities to teach two to six classes per week based on availability and demand.
